Saucisson Vaudois of St. Brigid, Quebec, Recalls Deli Meats and Ready To Eat Products

Warning not to eat deli meat products and ready to eat products

Quebec, December 14, 2012 – The MAPAQ, in collaboration with the company operating under the name Saucisson Vaudois, 368 Main Street, St. Brigid, is warning the public not to consume the products described below and manufactured by this company because they may contain Listeria monocytogenes .

Chicken liver mousse with port brand Golden Grain
Poultry and cranberry pie Porto brand Doré Gain

The company is voluntarily recalling the product and has agreed with MAPAQ to disseminate this warning as a precaution. It should be noted that no cases of illness associated with the consumption of this food have not been reported to date to MAPAQ.

People who have this product in their possession are advised not to consume it. They must either return it to the institution where they bought it or throw it away. Even if the product does not show evidence of tampering or smell spoiled, microbiological analysis revealed the presence of Listeria monocytogenes. Consumption of food contaminated with this bacteria may cause listeriosis, a foodborne illness that can cause high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness and nausea. Pregnant women and their unborn children, the elderly, children and people with weakened immune systems are considered the most vulnerable.
