Quebec, October 3, 2012 – MAPAQ, in collaboration with the company Boucherie WE Bégin inc. located at 500 rue Saint-Jean, Quebec, is warning the public not to consume the product described below and manufactured by the company because it may contain Listeria monocytogenes.

This recall involves all units of the product sold in sizes of variable weight at the facility mentioned above.
The company is voluntarily recalling the product and has agreed with MAPAQ to disseminate this warning as a precaution. However, it should be noted that no cases of illness associated with the consumption of this food have been reported to date to MAPAQ.
People who have this product in their possession are advised not to consume it. They must either return it to the institution where they bought it from or throw it away. Even if the product does not show evidence of tampering or smell spoiled, microbiological analyses revealed the presence of Listeria monocytogenes. Consumption of food contaminated with this bacteria may cause listeriosis, a foodborne illness that can cause high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness and nausea. Pregnant women and their unborn children, the elderly, children and people with weakened immune systems are considered the most vulnerable.
